From February 26 to 29, 2026, Cameroon's political capital will host the work of the 14ᵉ Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO). This major international meeting will bring together the trade ministers of member states to define the major orientations of the multilateral trading system.
Organized at Mont Fébé Hotel, The conference takes place in a global context marked by debates on the reform of the institution, the adaptation of trade rules to economic transformations, the digitization of trade, food security and the challenges of sustainable development.
As part of the preparations, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, and the Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, In the course of their visit to the Hôtel Mont Fébé site, the team members inspected the site where the work was to be carried out.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the state of progress of the logistical, security and organizational arrangements. The Cameroonian authorities intend to ensure that the event runs smoothly and under optimum conditions, both in terms of protocol and technical aspects.
Major challenges for the future of world trade
The Ministerial Conference, the supreme decision-making body of WTO, is a key moment for strengthening international trade governance, improving decision-making mechanisms, consolidating the dispute settlement system, further integrating developing economies and promoting digital trade and economic transformation.
The decisions expected in Yaoundé could have a lasting influence on the architecture of world trade, and redefine certain strategic priorities for the years to come.
As host country, the Cameroon intends to make this conference a diplomatic and organizational success. The event is an international showcase for the country, and an opportunity to strengthen its position in multilateral trade negotiations.
