The Fonds spécial d'Équipement et d'Intervention intercommunale (FEICOM) organized a two-day training workshop.
This session took place from April 13 to 14, 2026.
It was aimed at decentralized local authorities.
The aim was clear: to build the capacity of local elected representatives.
The aim was also to improve the implementation of environmental projects.

Gathered in Yaoundé, at FEICOM headquarters, mayors and local authorities took an active part.
They took part in discussions on climate issues.
This initiative is part of a long-term support program for CTDs.
It supports the planning and execution of environmentally-friendly projects.

A financing mechanism for local resilience

This workshop is part of FEICOM's «Guichet Climat» program, which provides funding for environmental resilience projects. On July 24, 2025, CCFF-C approved a total of 5.98 billion FCFA in funding for 56 communes. The funding targets two types of project: flood resilience for 33 communes, and reforestation and ecosystem restoration for 23 communes.

Capacity building and improved project monitoring

Over the course of the two days, work focused on a number of objectives.
The organizers raised awareness of climate issues among the CTDs.
They have also strengthened their technical skills.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to take stock of tendering procedures.
The experts presented the deliverables expected from the complementary technical studies.
They also detailed the Environmental and Social Impact Notices.
Finally, they have distributed project monitoring and evaluation tools.

At the end of the proceedings, participants hailed the initiative as a useful and rewarding one.
Many recognized a better understanding of financing procedures.
They also gained a better understanding of the technical requirements of climate projects.
So this workshop is more than just a training course.
It represents a real upgrade for local players.
They are now better prepared to integrate climate issues.
