As the month of Ramadan draws to a close, the Muslim faithful are called upon to uphold the values of peace, solidarity and piety. These principles, reinforced during this period of fasting, must be maintained in daily life.

On Wednesday March 21, believers at Yaoundé's Central Mosque No. 2 marked the end of this month of penitence and devotion. The occasion was well attended. The faithful came to give thanks to Allah and celebrate the end of the fast in a spirit of great religious fervor.

A strong call to maintain good practices after Ramadan

Firstly, the aim of the gathering was to thank Allah for the blessings received. Secondly, it served as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the good practices adopted during Ramadan.

Taking the floor, the principal imam, Cheikh Moustapha Moueddine Ngnangou Simo, urged the faithful to continue reading the Koran. He also stressed the need to maintain the positive habits acquired. He also urged them to turn away from behaviors harmful to society.

Addressing young people in particular, the imam insisted on the definitive abandonment of certain practices. In particular, he cited drug use, alcoholism and violence. According to him, these scourges weaken families and compromise social cohesion.

Peace, solidarity and prayer for a peaceful Cameroon

He also called for the strengthening of bonds of love, peace and reconciliation within communities. In the same spirit, the faithful were encouraged to continue praying for peace in Cameroon.

This prayer particularly concerns the North-West and South-West regions. It also extends to the Far North, where people are still suffering the violence of the Boko Haram sect.

Last but not least, the faithful expressed their gratitude to those in solidarity. They supported the fasters with donations of foodstuffs. For many, these concrete gestures illustrate more the spirit of living together than mere speeches.
