In a press release published a few days ago, CAF announced the postponement of the 2026 African Women's Cup of Nations. African soccer's governing body states that the competition is now scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 16 in Morocco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially scheduled from March 17 to April 3, 2026. The Women's CAN will finally be held from July 25 to August 16, 2026 in Morocco, the host country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A postponement decided after consultation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This decision follows consultation with several partners involved in the organization of the tournament, including the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAF explains that this rearrangement of the calendar is intended to guarantee better organizational conditions and ensure the smooth running of this major event in African women's soccer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body also points out that preparations are proceeding normally and is confident that the 2026 event will be a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several national teams have already qualified. These include Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Zambia, Algeria, Malawi, Cape Verde, Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, C\u00f4te d'Ivoire, Mali and Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition will also bring together 16 teams, a first in the tournament's history, in line with the CAF Executive Committee's decision to expand the Women's CAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this postponement, CAF intends to provide an optimal organizational framework. The competition has established itself as the leading showcase for women's soccer in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
